As you are well aware of by now, the WHO has recently labeled the Coronavirus (Strain: COVID-19) a worldwide pandemic. What started as a bunch of isolated groups of people in and around Wuhan, China quickly escalated into worldwide status for two reasons. 1. The easy access and ability to get on a plane and travel anywhere and 2. The fact that people, while feeling fine, were traveling while the virus was incubating inside them.
Coronavirus is the only human transferred virus we know of that is contagious in every form of it from reproduction to incubation and every other form it takes on inside the body.
Now there are three groups of people who are susceptible to the virus: newborns, the elderly and the immunocompromised. For the rest of us, from 5 to 60, it’s a bad cold, a light flu, sometimes a long lasting light to medium flu but a flu consisting of deep cold symptoms, nothing in the gastrointestinal system.
What can you do to keep you and your house and family germ free? Don’t go to conventions. Don’t go where there are large groups of people. The government is now suggesting you stay away from crowds greater than 10 people. Look at who is sending their employees home to work for the next 2 months at minimum? Companies like Google, many administrative jobs at hospital systems that don’t include clinical jobs, etc. My father, the director of Infection Control for New York State, tells us that this is barely the beginning. The beginning of the beginning will peak in 45 days from now give or take a week. This means bluntly, don’t save shopping for food for day 43. Do your hoarding now. Lots of non perishable foods (for example, a nice easy meal that will last forever is a can of vegetarian beans by Heinz), flash frozen ramen, all the pasta you can get, canned vegetables, ketchup and tomato sauces, hot dogs, frozen meals and if you have a large freezer like I do and a vacuum sealer, as much meat as you normally eat but a months worth.
What should you buy to protect the household?
Regular air filtering 3M masks do squat. The virus is smaller then their mask filter. You need what’s called an N95 mask which availability is spotty due to shortage and the fact that hospital institutions get them first. No shaking hands or kissing. Practice what we’ve all heard about: social distancing. There is no need to hoard purell or travel just to try and find it. As long as you have soap, the moment you get home, practice this soap routine: wash with soap while singing Happy birthday twice to your self. Wash from fingers, cuticles all the way down to your elbows like you were a doctor scrubbing for surgery.
Use Lysol surface cleaners to disinfect the rest. Door knobs, toilet flushers, sinks, any place you can think of that requires sanitizing, etc.
Don’t take out food, go to fast food or large restaurants. Many of these places lack common sense especially with the “employees must wash hands after using facilities”. Fast food is too many people going past the same person to pay, touch the bags, food containers, condiments so he’s not only getting bombarded by the possibly sick, he’s passing it on to everyone times 100.
Every product on this site is still in air locked containers and will remain that way even in their shipping containers so we will not have any hand on the actual inner products, that’s for you to rip open and enjoy safely. We’ve also setup an area of our office that is sealed with negative pressure and a vent system pulling air up and directly out the one story area we ship from. For custom terpene solutions you ask for, they are also put together in this tent with me and the other 2 partners wearing N95 masks, surgical grade latex free gloves and pre sterilized bottles and measuring cups and devices like scales. So we’re completely ready for this to get worse and more than ready for current conditions.
Be smart, be proactive, listen to scientific people like Dr Gupta, not Trump or anyone in his administration. He is scientifically a moron and denies science fact.
Pain, inflammation, stiffness, overuse, cancer, illness, wasting, referred from, referred to, localized, radicular, neuralgia, neuropathy, injury, misspent youths, athletes, whatever you call it or refer to it as, pain is just like this list: all different. All with different causes, grades, illnesses, uses, over use, referred from one location to another another, so you wonder why there are so many different kinds of opioids on the market.
Before I continue I will agree with the general consensus: this country has an opioid problem. It’s not the patients fault unless, of course, that patient has drug selling behaviours no one had picked up before making them a great actor and mind you, doctors are excellent at finding these patients and denying them opioids because whatever pain they have is Tylenol worthy. Not Dilaudid worthy. Not tramadol worthy. Not hydrocodone, oxycodone, codeine, buprenorphine, Suboxone, methadone, fentanyl, morphine, etc, worthy. So these users either realize that immediately or become statistics either via heroin ODs or other synthetic variants made in bathtubs that are 100 times more potent than transdermal fentanyl.
So if opioids isn’t the answer for you then what is? One word: Terpenes (either profiles or isolates).
There is one common misconception about terpenes: they are derived from the Cannabis plant be it hemp or Marijuana.
This is 100% untrue. As you know, cannabis – hemp or Marijuana – are plants, AKA botanicals. The Terpenes I use personally and put in our pain products are botanical terpene isolates but not from any plant in the cannabis species. The terpene isolates I use are from plants heavy in specific terpinoids, not plants that are high in one and low in another hence why we use Isolates: only one specific terpene from any one botanical.
There are a handful of Terpene isolates that are amazing at pain control, that aren’t expensive at all and can be made into a fully Entourage inducing product by using CBD isolate with added terpene isolates to complete the solution.
The list of Terpene Isolates that are great for both pain and inflammation are the following:
Myrcene – A study done just this year revealed that it’s uses as an anti-inflammatory and for treating pain from migraine and arthritis are exceptionally great for an herbal botanical ingredient.
Pinene – Also called Alpha-Pinene, is also a great anti-inflammatory which is also great for the immune and respiratory systems.
Linalool – Studied as a potent antioxidant, it’s properties Target the immune system and halt it’s inflammatory response.
Humulene – Proven to be an effective anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, appetite suppressant and anti-tumor.
Beta-Carophyllene – Shown to be an analgesic, anti-inflammatory, anti-cancer, anti-anxiety and anti-depressant.
Terpinolene – Good as a mild sedative and can reduce anxiety. Anything that is good at reducing anxiety is often used to help with musculoskeletal pain like how they prescribe Valium for this sort of pain in the cervical spine.
For relaxation, a combination of Myrcene, Linalool, Terpinolene and Beta-Carophyllene can help aid insomniacs when mixed in the right combinations.
Personally, due to my pain from a degenerating c-spine, in forced to be on heavy non-impairing narcotics namely the transdermal 3 day fentanyl patch and oxycodone (Percocet). I supplement the extra pain I have that’s left over with terpenes, CBD and CBG combinations. U can always ask for an increase in the fentanyl dose but instead I go the natural route and find it to be highly beneficial due to the other effects it offers the human body.
I use the product “Elevation Terpenes” which can be found in Amazon for 15 dollars USD for small amounts but remember, you should be taking small quantities of terpenes for their effects versus trying to drown out your pain and insomnia with extra amounts of terps. Your body and it’s CB1 and CB2 receptors in your ECS can only transmit and metabolize so much at once.
Your initial investment for CBD isolate based solutions are 20 to 60 dollars of CBD isolate powder depending on how much you buy at once, each one of 4 terpenes are $15 on Amazon so that’s approximately $120 as an initial investment. I generally put in 1/2 gram per 1/2 gram of coconut oil, and 1-2 milligrams of each terpenes into a small jar. The only thing I would say you can change without ruining the broth is how much CBD isolate you decide to use, 1/2 gram versus 1 gram. Obviously there is more concentrated CBD in 1 gram versus 1/2 gram. To add CBG, add about 20-50 drops from a 30ml bottle which contains 1000mg total of CBG. Adding CBN is an option but it’s harder to find and then find at recent prices.
The concoction above is good for oral ingestion (sublingual) if the Terpenes you buy are dietary kinds such as the brand I mentioned.
What you see above is an option to either complete your pain management solution with narcotic usage or to replace it altogether.
So you’ve heard me or another author write “CBG aka the mother of all Cannabinoids” and wonder what exactly that means because there, as you know, are many cannabinoids starting at THC and CBD and then the sub cannabinoids like CBC, CBN, etc.
What is CBG? CBG stands for cannabigerol. Found naturally in marijuana, it is the precursor molecule of both CBD and THC.
During growth of the cannabis plant, CBG is continuously converted to THC and CBD via specific enzymes in each plant activated by light, heat, moisture, humidity, pressure, nutrition, stress, etc and converted to literally every known cannabinoid.
During this cannabinoid life cycle, it’s concentration hovers around 1% which is about 20 times lower than the cannabinoid THC. The lower the concentration of CBG makes it harder for those to find the exact efficacy of CBG.
Above is the life cycle of CBG and how natural enzyme reactions and effects of chlorophyll help CBG become CBD, CBC and THC.
Cannabinoids THC, CBD and others like CBG have been found to work much better together than in an isolated form (isolate versus broad or full spectrum for example). Synergistic effects and interrelationships are very important in medicine, however, mainstream pharmaceutical practice generally ignores this fundamental by offering a new medication that is more of an isolate with a broader reach of effects than a combination of 2 medications to fulfill your neurotransmitters and endocannabinoid system receptors CB1 and CB2 but this mostly has to do with fulfilling the entourage effect.
Specifically: CBG does not trigger THC-like activity in rodents and primates, verifying that it is not an intoxicant, not psychoactive. In rodent models, CBG taken alone in high doses (80 mg/Kg – comparitively a rather high dose) did not promote locomotor suppression (depressed motor skills), catalepsy (extreme couch lock), hypothermia or analgesia (medicinal marijuana pain relief). So you can’t assign any psychoactive effects on cannabigerol in any dose to any motor or neurological system yet. Researchers need natural CBG in much higher concentrations in natural forms. But the one thing we know for sure is that both CB1 and CB2 are activated by CBG, not either/or, making adding CBG to any single isolate or broad spectrum to full spectrum product simply due to cross transmission in your endocannabinoid system’s receptors beneficial. Example: a high CBD isolate may effect CB1 while adding CBG to the mix would have an effect on CB2, doubling up on the effect of 2 Cannabinoids taken by two different angles affecting all ECS receptors is the definition of entourage effect.
I know that is all quite technical but if you read it twice or thrice and understand the body’s ECS it makes perfect sense.
CBG EFFICACY – SUMMARY OF RESEARCH FINDINGS
CBG has shown potential for alleviating neuropathic, inflammatory and other pain in animal studies. CBG might even have a higher efficacy than CBD. CBG can modulate the uptake of GABA in the brain (most of you are familiar with gabapentin/neuronten for example), to decrease anxiety and reduce muscle tension. GABA’s principal role is to reduce neuronal excitability throughout the nervous system. GABA is also directly responsible for the regulation of muscle tone.
Lab tests showed that CBG is an antidepressant similar to imipramine. Imipramine, or Tofranil is a tricyclic pharmaceutical antidepressant. It is mainly used in the treatment of major depression and enuresis. Being a cannabinoid, CBG’s safety profile is extremely high, making it a candidate to replace pharmaceuticals with a multitude of toxic side effects.
Inflammation, digestive conditions
It has been shown to improve inflammatory bowel disease, ulcerative colitis and Crohn’s disease in lab findings. Obviously, this promising finding invites clinical study in humans.
CBG boosts the body’s natural skin moisturizers, holding promise for dry-skin syndromes and promotes full hydration, which makes the face look much younger.
CBG has neuroprotective properties, with hypothetical efficacy in the treatment of neurodegenerative diseases from Huntington’s disease and multiple sclerosis (MS) to Alzheimer’s, ALS, Parkinson’s, dementia and others to make a few.
CBG is showing promising properties in vitro for the potential treatment of a broad range of cancers, including breast, liver, lung, pancreatic, skin, ovarian, renal, bladder and colon cancer as well as malignancies that turn metastatic. It is thought to believe that CBG has anti-angiogenesis benefits (cuts off the blood supply to the cancers or tumors killing then from the inside out without toxic side effects of chemo or radiation. (See also Rick Simpson Oil aka RSO).
Cannabigerol has been shown to relieve intraocular pressure, which is the cause of glaucoma.
—- CBG INTO THE FUTURE
Cannabis alchemists round the world are seeking to produce high CBG strains, using selective breeding combined with genetic testing. It would seem that efforts would focus primarily on the shutting down the enzyme system that converts CBG into THC or CBD full stop. There may be environmental factors to manipulate the action of the focal enzymes (CBG to THC) such as nutrients, lighting, stress. Perhaps starving the plant of certain amino acids might work?
In any event, professionals from around the web are predicting we’ll see high CBG strains = 5%+ in the near future.
THE LEGAL STATUS OF CBG
CBG itself a Scheduled substance in the US, Canada, Europe and the rest of “the free world”.
However, extracts of any component of the cannabis plant are illegal in many areas. Today, Cannabinoids THC and CBD from cannabis plant are Schedule I controlled substances, laughably in the same class as heroin, crack and other dangerous narcotics.
CBG and other cannabinoids are left alone for now, however, if its use goes viral, the reflex action of the DEA, based on precedent with the non-psychoactive CBD, is to label it Schedule I, despite having no psychoactive effects, low in toxicity, is a naturally occurring substance and it may be highly medicinal.
CBG coming soon? You won’t find many CBG marijuana strains currently on the market, but thanks to breeders like those at TGA genetics Subcool Seeds, the breed Mikey Kush exists. Mikey Kush strain is a Sativa-dominant strain testing with high levels of CBG and THC levels of 28.6%. CBG marijuana strains are becoming more available in Europe, and will most likely start to be seen on the shelves in North America soon. Research will surely continue, and as public interest increases, growers will be encouraged to produce high-CBG strains themselves.
