CBD Oil and Atrial Fibrillation/Supraventricular Tachycardia.

Spread the love

I have an issue with my heart which runs in all males on my father’s side of the family.  We all have Paroxysmal Atrial Fibrillation accompanied by Supraventricular Tachycardia (AFIB-SVT).  Paroxysmal == no known cause (similar to Idiopathic).  We all don’t have any heart defects related to a chronic afib problem, just what I’ve described.

Half my family is on Beta-Blockers to prevent this and to increase the heart muscles efficacy with regards to blood pressure, heart function and lower heart rates.  In particular, I’ve been on metoprolol for MANY years (also a great Beta blocker).

Since starting CBD Oil, I noticed a great change in certain things I would get all the time. Non-afib palpitations, afib or SVT.  As CBD acts as a natural antiarrhythmic as well as lowering your blood pressure and heart rate, I’ve been able to start a taper down period of this Metoprolol.  This magic oil has “fixed my heart” in terms of side effects caused by this afib and by lowering my blood pressure, It has allowed my heart to beat more efficiently with limited to no HRV (heart rate variability).  Another reason I chose CBD Oil over pharmaceuticals.

ADDENDUM – 7 months later

Since starting a constant and regular CBD regimen, I have not had a SINGLE Palpitation, PVC or other arrhythmia including any form of Atrial Fibrillation or Supraventricular Tachycardia. I have been off of metoprolol for a few months now and since quitting THC altogether, I also found that THC was adding to SVT episodes. I added unisom generic tablets to my sleep regimen to substitute for the THC that I only used to get to sleep and it works perfectly. My heart has not been pounding at all during high anxiety situations, tough work problems, rough pain days, etc..

I have read similar success stories regarding adding CBD products to the body for AFIB and SVT and how the results have been absolutely amazing all around.

This is the oil I use

10 Months after starting CBD Oil.

For the 1000mg CBD Distillery CBD Product, I have been on it constantly for just under a year now.  I have had no heart rate variability, or had any bouts of atrial fibrillation; be it small busts of palpitations or full blown arrhythmias for an extended time.  I do get palpitations but I believe that is pretty normal – but not to the extent with which I used to get them.  Perhaps I’ve had 10 over the year versus 10 a day.

My heart rate variability is gone and according to my heart tracker, my heart rate has gone from a resting average of 75bpm down to 62bpm.  I peak at 100 at MOST unless I’m doing something strenuous but if I’m drinking a lot of caffeine I never break 100.

I still take 1 baby aspirin a day – JUST IN CASE – and I would suggest that to other sufferers and expect it.

1 year update:

Well now with over a year of CBD in my endocannabinoid system, I’ve noticed a lot. Let’s go through it. My BP has returned back to 120/70 consistently through all the doctors appointments I’ve had. My BPM at rest is between 60 and 70bpm – that’s also because of the lesser stress I have due to the oil. If I’m active I usually don’t exceed 110bpm but return back to rest rather quickly. Palpitations are basically gone except for normal 1-3 a week after something strenuous. All in all I’m happy with the 1500mg bottle I have from Green Roads and decided to buy some gummies from them as well so I can eat one when I may be slightly more stressed, slightly more pained or just want to relax easier.

  1. Hey buddy glad you are doing well. I have afib with svt at well (just one episode so far).
Currently i am taking metoprolol, but i would love to try to add cbd and maybe eventually switch to just cbd like you have. Just wondering if you could be more specific on your dosage? I already have a bottle of Charlottes web by the stanley brothers.

    1. Personally I went with a high dose because I was using it for multiple reasons; my neck and my afib. I went with 75omg per 30ml and settled at 1500mg. You can get by at around 500mg but for the neck issues I required a much higher dose. Which bottle of CW did you go with?

    2. Todd – Great to hear from someone who has the random spurts of afib with associated SVT. I have been in very few afib sessions but each one has lasted 4-5 days. I’ve required no cardiac intervention to stop the attacks such as medicinal or shock treatments to get back into NSR – normal sinus rhythm. Currently I take Green Roads 1500mg per bottle. I take 1 dropper full in the AM and 1 dropper full in the PM. This product with dosing has kept me out of afib/svt as well as corrected my variable heart rate and now for the past 8 weeks have had an average resting heart rate of 62bpm according to my fitbit charge 2 HR tracker (which is quite accurate). Ever since I quit smoking pot 12 weeks ago, the SVT went away completely and now since I’m on a steady regimen of full spectrum CBD Oil everything else has calmed itself quite nicely. I still take 1 baby aspirin per day, just in case, as ordered by both my PCP and my cardiologist.
